4th LEARNING ACTIVITY

BARCELONA, SPAIN

17-23 March 2019

The 4th Learning, Teaching & Training Activity took place in Barcelona Spain, 18-22 March 2019, organised by the partner school Maristes Sants-Les Corts. The participants included 14 pupils from the 4 partner schools and 11 accompanying teachers.

According to the program prepared by the host school, this learning week included the following activities:

  • Day 1: Welcoming reception at the school yard, presenting the groups from the partner schools. Tour around the school meeting the teachers and the pupils. Presenting the project manifest to Mr Alvaro Sepulveda, Child Rights Coordinator from the FMSI (Marist International Solidarity Foundation), who will transfer it at the United Nations in Geneva.

  • Day 2: Pupils workshop entitled “Casa Refugi” by the NGO Open Cultural Center, where pupils created a book of drawings about the refugee’s journey. Ice-breaking games for pupils and teachers in the school yard. Tour around Montjuic area. Visit at the Castellers (human towers) rehearsal, a Catalonian tradition declared by Unesco to be among the Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.

  • Day 3: Continuation of the “Shoebox” activity at school, where pupils worked in groups to present short migration stories using theatrical techniques. Tour in Badalona and visit at the Maristes kindergarten and primary school.

  • Day 4: Pupils and teachers followed a workshop on migration visiting cultural and education centers in Raval Area of Barcelona. Tour devoted to the Catalan Modernism and the modernist buildings in Barcelona.

  • Day 5: Teaching activities in classes by the foreign teachers. Evaluation of the week and administrative meeting. All pupils participated in a work of art depicting a body contour in the school yard, designed and coordinated by the visual artist Marc Sellarès. Farewell dinner at school with the hosting families, pupils and teachers.
